Bloomfield Vineyards Viognier Captures “Best of California”

June 30, 2009 – Bloomfield Vineyards, a Brentwood-based winery owned and operated by Tom and Becky Bloomfield, announced today their awards from the California State Fair.  These honors included their 2008 Viognier receiving Double Gold, 98 Points, “Best of Region”, “Best of Class Greater Bay Appellations” and “Best of California”.

“It is beyond words to explain the feelings I am having right now,” explained Becky Bloomfield, owner and winemaker for Bloomfield Vineyards.  Becky continued, “And I hope these awards get people to not only discover the great varietal Viognier is, but to see that Contra Costa County is a great growing region that produces great wine!”

Besides the Viognier, Bloomfield’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon captured Gold, 95 Points, “Best of Class Greater Bay Appellations” and “Best of California”. Their 2008 Devil’s Daughter White Wine captured Silver, 88 Points, “Best of Class Greater Bay Appellations”; and their 2007 Pinot Noir won Bronze, 86 Points.

“Your Cabernet Sauvignon competed against 370 other Cabs and took #1…Wow, that’s impressive and those are some bragging rights,” said “Pooch” Pucilowski, Chief Judge of the California State Fair Wine Competition.  Pucilowski continued, “A non-Sonoma or Napa Cab, people are gonna want to meet you.”
